InforwarCon 2008
March 2­–4, 2008 in Bethesda, Maryland
InfowarCon attracts military leaders, industry experts, first responders, political forces, and esteemed academia from all over the globe to discuss International policy; national information force projection, protection, and security efforts; critical infrastructure convergence and defense; and regional and municipal participation. 

2008 Secure IT Conference
March 4–6, 2008 in San Diego, California
The Secure IT Conference sessions will address new and continuing threats to information security as well as responses to the increasing risk of security breaches and data exfiltration, identity theft, cyberterrorism, and more. The conference will provide information security professionals and managers with the most up-to-date information, tools, trends, legislation, and strategies for addressing information security issues.

2008 American Society for Public Administration Annual Conference
March 7–11, 2008 in Dallas, Texas
At this conference, academics, practitioners, and students will consider the issues and opportunities facing public administration, focusing on the theme “Transformational Public Administration: A Call for Public Service.” They will focus on behaviors, programs, activities, institutions, and processes emanating from the public sector that have promoted, or can promote, human advancement. Presentations of various viewpoints and prescriptions for advancing public administration will be featured.

5th International Conference on Asian Organized Crime and Terrorism
March 16–21, 2008 in San Francisco, California
This conference offers workshops on Arabic and Asian cultures, Asian criminal enterprises and organized crime, Asian criminal street gangs, Hmong gangs, casino cheating, computer forensics, counterfeit pharmaceuticals and other products, current drug trends, database for Target ID, global trends, alien smuggling and kidnapping, human trafficking, identity theft, illegal cigarette smuggling, money laundering and other financial crimes, and youth violence.

Partners in Emergency Preparedness Conference
April 1–2, 2008 in Tacoma, Washington
This event will feature presentations on weather preparedness, emergency public information and media relations, emergency planning for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, integrated crisis management, pandemic planning, Homeland Security grants, railroad emergencies, business continuity planning, school safety, public health preparedness, and much more.

LEIU and IALEIA Training Conference
April 7–11, 2008 in Boston, Massachusetts
The Law Enforcement Intelligence Unit (LEIU) will join with the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA) to host this training conference. These two organizations represent the largest associations of both intelligence analysts and intelligence officers in the world.

7th International Public Safety/Counterterrorism Conference
April 14–15, 2008 in Seattle, Washington
This conference will focus on leading-edge advancements in counterterrorism technologies and global perspectives on policy and homeland security issues. It will include interactive solution sessions on each plenary topic and networking opportunities with international public safety professionals. Its international target audience includes law enforcement officials, maritime (port) security officials and companies, senior airport and transportation security officials and companies, senior public safety and homeland security policymakers, practitioners and first responders, customs officials, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Coast Guard personnel, and defense and immigration specialists from the technology sector. 

Fire-Rescue Med
April 21–23, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada
Fire-Rescue Med, sponsored by the International Association of Fire Chiefs' Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Section, promises to educate and inform every attendee, from aspiring new leaders to the most experienced chiefs and managers, on the essential issues facing the EMS industry. The conference will present classes and workshops on infectious disease control, grant proposals, EMS leadership and management, EMS billing, suicide bombers, political success, and mass casualty incidents. On the exhibit floor, attendees will be able to meet personally with the vendors who provide critical products and services to the EMS community.

International Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Information Management 32nd Annual Conference
May 6-10, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee
Proposed topics for the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Information Management conference include system integration, strategic planning, mobile computing, terrorism and technology, and Internet technology standards. The conference will focus on enhancing law enforcement efficiency and effectiveness with technology. Subject matter experts from around the world will share best practices and lessons learned in the application of technology to fight crime and improve department efficiency. Registration is limited to sworn or civilian law enforcement personnel.

California Fire, EMS, & Disaster – West: Conference & Expo
May 19–23, 2008 in North San Diego County, California
California Fire, EMS, & Disaster–West 2008 is a multidisciplined educational event that was constructed through the commingled efforts of California's various first responder stakeholders. This combined approach provides an empirical educational offering that is inclusive of all California's first responders. This annual, statewide conference also will showcase the collaborative efforts of California's first responders.

Second Annual Global Border Security Conference and Expo
May 21–22, 2008 in Austin, Texas
This conference will offer analysis from law enforcement, analysts, researchers, and industry regarding national issues concerning global border security and the use of technology to address gaps and challenges.

International Association of Chiefs of Police Public Information Officers Section Mid-Year Conference
May 28-30, 2008 in Arlington, Texas
This International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference will feature a panel of police public information officers and media representatives speaking on the topic "Immediacy and Accuracy: Working Together—Quickly—in a Multimedia World." 10th Annual Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education Conference
May 31-June 2, 2008 in Emmitsburg, Maryland
Every year, the U.S. Fire Administration hosts the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education conference on its campus in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Representatives from fire-related degree programs, state and local fire service training agencies, and national fire service organizations are eligible to attend the 3-day conference. Significant products often result from the group work done by participants at these conferences and from the presentations they feature by national leaders and experts. Participation is by invitation only to those in the target audiences.

9th Annual Innovative Technologies for Community Corrections Conference
June 9-11, 2008 in Denver, Colorado
This conference explores practical applications of current innovative technologies and technologies that will soon be available. The program offers 28 educational workshops in 4 tracks (Electronic Monitoring, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Information Technology, and Management Issues), which will inform attendees on how technology is being used, and can be used, to enhance mission performance.

18th World Conference on Disaster Management: Emergency Management and Business Continuity Working Together
June 15–18, 2008 in Toronto, Ontario Canada
The World Conference on Disaster Management addresses issues common to all aspects of disaster/emergency management. The conference program includes speakers from many parts of the world and provides opportunities for training and networking with experts and practitioners in the areas of emergency planning and management, business continuity, emergency communications, emergency response, IT disaster management research, and risk management, security, as well as the organizations which supply and service these professions.

Deviant Groups, Movements, Cults & Religions
July 14–18, 2008 in Troy, Ohio
This is a 40-hour seminar designed to train law enforcement and other professionals to recognize and identify deviant groups and movements. It is a multifaceted course, with particular attention paid toward counter-terrorism, homeland security, anti-American activities, and movements with philosophies that may alienate their practitioners from mainstream Americans.

The National Institute of Justice Conference 2008
July 21-23, 2008 in Arlington, Virginia
This National Institute of Justice (NIJ) conference showcases effective and promising strategies in research and technology. It emphasizes the benefits received by researchers and practitioners who work together to create effective evidence-based policies and practices. The DNA Grantees Workshop, formerly a separate event, is now an integral part of the NIJ Conference, contributing information on innovations in forensic sciences and related policy and resource issues.

International Association of Forensic Sciences 2008: 18th International Association of Forensic Sciences Triennial Meeting
July 21-25, 2008 in New Orleans, Louisiana
This International Association of Forensic Sciences triennial meeting will focus on the theme "Forensic Science in an Instant Access World." To provide investigators, prosecutors, and forensic scientists with the opportunity to learn about new technologies, a BJA agreement (PDF) will fund the attendance of selected participants.

Precision Indoor Personnel Location and Tracking for Emergency Responders Workshop
August 4-6, 2008 in Worcester, Massachusetts
This third annual technology workshop will provide a forum for researchers and developers to share technical knowledge about the indoor location and tracking of emergency response personnel. It will focus on zero preinstalled infrastructure tracking—that is, systems that do not require any previously installed wiring or equipment, such as that required by radio frequency identification systems. The workshop will further focus on systems that provide the incident command post with complete tracking and position information on all equipped personnel. Simpler approaches ("homing devices") will also be considered for the workshop, and a session will be dedicated to the physiological monitoring of first responders. Select representatives of the governmental and user communities will participate.

National Institute of Justice Technology Institute for Rural Law Enforcement
October 26-30, 2008 in Coronado (San Diego), California
This technology institute, sponsored by the National Institute of Justice and hosted by the Rural Law Enforcement Technology Center, is designed for the command staff of rural and small law enforcement agencies with fewer than 50 sworn officers. Participants will receive information and assistance on existing and developing technologies, work through problems relating to technology implementation, and exchange technology lessons learned.

115th International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference and Exposition
November 8-12, 2008 in San Diego, California
More than 15,000 law enforcement professionals are expected to attend the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. The program will feature renowned keynote speakers, forums and technical workshops, and a huge exhibit hall of products and services for the law enforcement community. Registration will open on May 14, 2008.

Seventh Annual Maritime Security Conference and Expo
November 18–19, 2008 in Long Beach, California
State, local, and military authorities and industry professionals who attend this conference will view the latest technology, products, and services in maritime, port, and intermodal security.
